Reflections on the Experience

“I went into this not knowing what to expect or what the experience. I have never traveled out of the country without my parents and it was amazing to do something like that independently. I got very close to the group and I never really went into it with a specific goal. Once we got there I began to realize that a goal of mine was interacting with the community and making a connection as well as being helpful at the work site. I believe that I accomplished the goals and made the experience even better.”  - Student

“What we wanted most was to experience and embrace a culture very different from our own, and facilitate positive experiences for the kids on our team. In both of these goals we were successful.” -  Chaperone
