It has been a busy fall at Xperitas as we have worked to prepare new itineraries and destinations (Available now on our website). We are thrilled to report that as part of our growth plan we have a hired a new Customer Service Specialist, Ashley Utz, to manage our registration and payment systems and to support teachers, travelers and parents.
Ashley earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and studied abroad in Vallodolid, Spain where she gained fluency in Spanish. She has a passion for travel and giving back to the community and is active in Rotary International where she has been able to combine both passions. In her spare time, Ashley enjoys reading and spending time with her friends and family.
In addition to increasing our customer service capacity, this fall Jenny Behrens and Emma Rojas, former Spanish program managers, were promoted to Directors of Language Programs. Jenny and Emma will still be available to answer questions form the teachers they have developed wonderful relationships with for years, but they will also be using their knowledge and experience to support all Xperitas language immersion programs.
Jenny and Emma know what makes a great Program Manager and, after interviewing many candidates, found two amazing new Xperitas staff; Emily Hansel, the new Program Manager for Spain and Katie Farley, the new Program Manager for Latin America.
Emily earned her undergraduate degree in Spanish and Ethnic and Racial studies at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and has a Masters degree in International Education from the Universidad de Alcala de Henares in Spain. Emily has spent a total of six years living abroad, five in Spain and one in Colombia, where she taught English, continued her studies, and became fluent in Spanish. A traveling fanatic, she has visited 23 countries. In her spare time, she loves cooking (and eating), photography, spending time with family and friends, and exploring.
Katie grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota, and graduated from Concordia College, Moorhead with a degree in Spanish and World Language Education. She has spent time in Spain, Argentina, and Costa Rica in addition to travels throughout Latin America and Europe. Katie has worked for nine years as a summer language camp administrator with Concordia Language Villages and taught elementary and high school Spanish in the Twin Cities for five years. She is fluent in Spanish and working on her Portuguese. She loves to read, travel, and try new foods.
As we look ahead to the future of Xperitas, we feel fortunate to have a fully staffed roster full of capable, bright, experienced and talented individuals. We are excited for what 2019 will bring for this group. One thing is for certain, we have the tools in place to make 2019 the best year of language and cultural immersion programming on record. We feel fully prepared to advance our mission of transforming lives through shared global experience and intercultural learning into 2019 and beyond.
