Meet The Team
Carlos is from Cali, Colombia, and studied music at the Conservatorio, later specializing in music education at the INTEM-University of Chile. Carlos studied archaeology in Mexico City and Spanish culture in Madrid. Carlos is a talented composer and performer. His experience teaching Spanish in Minnesota includes all ages, K-Adult.
David holds degrees in Law and Public Administration from his native country of Colombia, where he was Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Universidad del Atlántico, later on being appointed the Director of Human Rights. In Colombia he taught Administrative Law and has become an experienced Spanish teacher since arriving stateside.
Diana Leidahl, originally from Bogota, Colombia, spent many years working in the business field. She moved to Minneapolis several years ago, and started a second career as Spanish Teacher, Translator and Interpreter.
Emma was born in St. Paul and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Family Social Science and Spanish. Emma spent five years in Costa Rica teaching English and serving as an Admissions Counselor. Now back in the U.S., Emma is part of the Xperitas team as the Spanish Programs Manager.
Joe began learning Spanish at age 13 and now has a master’s degree in Spanish Linguistics. He loves teaching and learning about languages and communication and has been teaching Spanish at a local college for more than 14 years.
Judith was born in Lima, Peru. After working as a professor at universities in the Lima area, she moved to the U.S. and obtained her master’s degree in Hispanic Linguistics. Judith has taught Spanish for more than 15 years at various institutions including the University of Minnesota, University Language Center, Spanish Institute and Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
Leticia obtained her teaching degree in Uruguay, her country of origin. Stateside, she taught in Montevideo, Minnesota, for 7 years and has held various jobs in education in Minnesota. She worked as the Latino Liaison at North St. Paul schools and is currently working at an alternative high school in Minneapolis.
Luz Ayder Paz
Luz was born in Colombia, studied Literature and Languages and obtained a degree in Education from the Universidad Santiago de Cali. In Mexico City, she studied Latin American Literature at UNAM. Luz has taught Spanish at different institutions, such as the International School of Minnesota and the Spanish Institute in Edina.
Nadia was born in Cusco, Peru where she graduated as a Psychologist. She worked at Cusco’s Social Security Hospital, leading different clinical programs to assist the elderly. She currently works as a Language Enrichment Specialist at Kinderberry Hill Child development centers. She has been teaching Spanish classes for adults since 2010.
Sandra began teaching Spanish in her birthplace of Cuernavaca, Mexico. She holds a degree in Pedagogy and in Minnesota has taught Spanish and Literature courses at the Resource Center of the Americas. She teaches all levels of Spanish to adults and children and developed curricula for Spanish literature courses and grammar workshops.
Silverio holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the IPN in Mexico City, his hometown. Silverio co-founded a Spanish group at the Basilica of St. Mary in Minneapolis after arriving stateside. He started teaching Spanish, developed his own curriculum and created Voces del Español, a Spanish Immersion program to learn Spanish in Querétaro, Mexico.
Tyrel studied in Venezuela and Spain while attending the University of Minnesota. After graduating in Journalism and Spanish Studies, Tyrel moved to Ecuador to teach English for twelve months. He is an English Instructor at Berlitz and teaches Spanish as a second language for Minneapolis Community and Technical College-Continuing Education.
